The Lamborghini Murciélago is a supercar produced by Lamborghini. It was designed by Luc Donckerwolke and was introduced in 2002 to replace Diablo.
The name of the new car was taken from that of a bull, the herd of Joaquin del Val de Navarre, who during a bullfight in the arena of October 5, 1879 in Córdoba City withstood 24 thrusts of the bullfighter Rafael Molina, fighting with passion and intensity that the matador decided, very rare honor, of saving. It also seems that this bull was given to Don Antonio Miura, a famous breeder, who founded it with a major bloodline of fighting bulls. Finally Lamborghini Murciélago also means bat in Spanish. Perhaps it was this association to put the car in the movie The Dark Knight.
Initially the only available version of the car was the two-seater coupe. In 2004 he was presented as a 2005 model, the roadster version. This version differs from the discovery of a coupé for the aesthetics of the back and the sale price higher. The performances are very similar.
The engine that equips the car is the V12 6.2 L of displacement and 580 hp (410 kW). Traction is integral permanent central viscous coupling, a viscous traction system called it shares with the smaller Gallardo. In the car, there are several systems such as a rear spoiler, adjustable up to 70 °, with wing mirrors that fold speed increases to reduce the aerodynamic drag and the side air vents that, again automatically, open in so as to ensure, according to the needs of the moment, the proper air flow for cooling the engine.
In addition to Batman in that movie about the Murcielago, roadster version, is included in the 2005 film by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen The Transporter 2.
In 2006 he presented an evolution of the Lamborghini Murciélago: LP640 where the "LP" stands for "longitudinal rear" that is nothing but the arrangement of the engine into the body. La cilindrata è stata portata da 6,2 L a 6,5 L con un incremento di potenza di ben 60 cv, arrivando quindi a 640 cv.
