Mercedes CLK-DTM May Come to US

Mercedes CLK-DTM

The AMG Mercedes CLK-DTM may be coming to the US due to request by Mercedes customers. Mario Spitzner, AMG-Mercedes director of marketing & sales/branding, said the company would be willing to legalize the car for US if there were enough customers. For those of you don’t know about the Mercedes CLK-DTM, its a legal street version of Mercedes’ German Touring Cars. The Mercedes CLK-DTM boosts 582 horsepower and derives suspension brakes and bodywork from the company’s touring cars. The car does 0-62 mph in just 3.9 seconds with top speeds of 200 mph.

In UK, Mercedes built about 100 coupes and 80 convertibles to meet demand. Spitzner said that for the US the company might even produce more if they are pressured enough. He even suggested that the US customers might get a better performing CLK-DTM sporting a 6.2 liter V8 engine instead of the original 5.5 liter V8 engine.
